On July 2, 2019, in Grand Rapids, Michigan. An armed confrontation between two groups of people led to three fatalities and eight injuries. The shooters were 28-year-old Allen Ivanov and his 23-year-old son Dzhokhar Ivanov. Dzhokhar has been charged with three counts of first-degree murder and one count of assault with intent to commit murder. Allen Ivanov has been charged with two counts of first-degree murder and one count of conspiracy to commit murder.
The shooting occurred after a dispute between the two groups that began when one group used homophobic slurs against another group. The altercation quickly escalated into a physical confrontation, with both sides wielding firearms. According to witnesses, Allen Ivanov was the primary shooter. While his son Dzhokhar assisted him by firing shots from a handgun. All three victims were shot multiple times; two men died at the scene, and a third man died in the hospital.

On Sunday, March 3, 2019, at approximately 5:00 pm, a shooting occurred in Grand Rapids, Michigan. The suspect is 49-year-old John Ruszczyk. Who has been charged with 1st Degree Murder and Assault with Intent to do Great Bodily Harm after fatally shooting his wife of 38 years and injuring two other individuals. We know that the victim was 48-year-old Catherine Ruszczyk and that the other victims are her mother (85) and 22-year-old daughter (unnamed). At this time, no motive has been determined.
