Adam Kinzinger is the Representative of Illinois’s 16th congressional district and a Republican. He has been outspoken about his stance on government anti-poverty efforts, while also supporting them in his own district.

After graduation, he worked as an associate attorney at a law firm in Chicago before being elected to the Illinois State Assembly in 2006. He was reelected to the State Assembly in 2010 and 2012. In 2014, Kinzinger was elected to the U.S. House of Representatives by defeating incumbent Democrat Brad Schneider in a close race.
