Every year, more and more people travel internationally for various purposes like a vacation, business, and volunteerism, or to visit friends and family. Whatever the reason for traveling, the traveler needs to be Proactive, Prepared and Protected when it comes to his health, and the health of others while traveling.

Water-borne diseases like jaundice, dysentery, and the common cold are very common to occur. So the traveler should watch the water he drinks. If one is traveling out of the country, one might also need vaccinations or prevention medicine.

If the location is a hill station or forest area, it is better to take a mosquito repellent or insect repellent. If the place is too hot, sunscreen can be used. The traveler should wear the protective gear like seat belts and life jackets while going for adventure sports. Alcohol intake should be avoided for maintaining traveler’s health throughout the trip. The traveler should try to prevent insect bites and other scratches or infections during the trip. Washing hands with soap and water before and after eating is recommended to take care of the traveler’s health.

After returning from the trip, it is generally advisable to undergo a complete check-up of the traveler’s health. If the traveler experiences fever, then medication should be necessary. For diseases like malaria and jaundice, symptoms will be very less traceable. So, always taking a blood test is mandatory after returning back to make a check on your health. By taking all these precautions, serious illness can be avoided and the traveler’s health can be taken care of. The traveler’s health should be taken care of all the way through the trip and after reaching home. For a fun-filled and enjoyable trip, finer details in packing and planning should be considered.
