You spend about 30% of your life in bed. Add to that the quality of your sleep determines your performance during the day and it is immediately clear that the bedroom is worth your attention. The good news? It doesn’t have to cost a lot or take a lot of time. With these tips, you can easily give your bedroom a makeover.
The bedroom is perhaps the most private area of the house. It is therefore quite strange that many of us do not ‘own’ the bedroom at all, as we do in the living room. Hang one wall full with a collection of beautiful posters that go well together. Or choose one of your most beautiful photos – from that dreamy vacation, from your wedding, or from very old – and have it printed in a large format. Also chic for the bedroom: a mirror on the wall. Especially when there is little light, you can strategically use a mirror to reflect light.
The lighting is the mood maker of the bedroom. Replace that boring ceiling light with a beautiful hanging chandelier that turns the ceiling into a starry sky. And opt for dimmable bedside table lamps. Or install a lamp that can change color. This way you make it wonderfully cozy in the winter with orange, red or pink lighting, while you make it look optically cooler in the winter with pastel green or light blue lighting.
You really don’t have to buy a new bed for your new bedroom (unless you want to, of course)! You can increase your sleeping comfort enormously and give the room a completely different look by replacing your bedding. Choose a quality duvet, such as a four-season duvet. This allows you to sleep warm or cool enough all year round. With a new duvet cover, you largely determine the look of the bedroom. With the duvet cover, you can try out accent colors in a no-obligation way. Extra matching pillows and a plaid provide that luxurious hotel feeling.
Not a fan of the floor in your bedroom? Don’t worry, a whole new floor may not be necessary at all. Choose a nice big rug in your style for under the bed, or go for two long runners on the sides of the bed. This way you cover a large part of the floor and it is easier to get out of bed on early winter mornings.
Kill two birds with one stone with a beautiful plant in the bedroom. Plants purify the air and thus ensure a better night’s sleep, but of course they are also just beautiful! Go for a tropical banana plant or large fern in the corner of the room and you will immediately feel like you are on vacation.
With these tips you can spend your time in the bedroom in style and enjoy a better night’s sleep!
