1. Disable Processes that Eats Maximum Resources:

Multiple processes unnecessarily take up a lot of system resources in a Mac. Finding them manually is difficult, however, Mac’s Activity Monitor lists down all the processes along with the resources they consume. 

To improve the speed of your Mac, simply navigate to the Activity Monitor and disable the processes that eat up more resources. To do so, 

  • Navigate to the Finder > Applications.
  • In the Application window, click on Utilities and then choose Activity Monitor. 
  • From the Activity Monitor, navigate to the CPU tab.
  • Here when you double click on any app, you will be able to see the resources that the app is consuming. 
  • Click on Quit to kill the process and confirm the disabling. 

 2. Keep A Track OF Startup Applications:

Many of us are unaware of the application that automatically runs at the startup, eating up system resources, resulting in a slow boot time. Thankfully, to improvise the speed of your Mac, you can easily manage the startup applications and make your Mac run fast. To do so, 

  • Click on the Apple menu from the home screen.
  • Here, navigate to System Preferences and then click on Users & Groups.
  • From Groups & Users, click on Login Items.
  • This will display a list of all the applications that run at startup. 
  • Simply disable or remove the ones you do not want. 

3. Optimize Hard Drive By Restoring Disk Space:

  • Click on the Apple Menu and then click on About This Mac.

7. Delete The Cache Files:

  • Navigate to the Finder and select Go.
  • As soon as you click on Go, a drop-down menu appears, click on Go to Folder.

  • Finally, go and empty the Trash.
