The indestructible US “Truck” goes green!
It’s always an event in the United States when Ford unveils the new version of its F-150 built in Michigan and Missouri. This 2021 model will be available from this fall. The F-150 has been in production for 43 years and continues to be the most popular pick-up by professionals and individuals. This work, travel and leisure companion par excellence is opening up to a new era in terms of motorization, without forgetting to be always more practical and useful. If the visual signature changes little despite an increased aerodynamics, aluminum makes its appearance on the bodywork story to lighten the icon of the Middle West.
If we can still afford the best sellers equipped with a 5.0L V, while waiting for a 100% electric F-150, Ford reveals its desire to play the ecology with the all-new 3.5L V6 PowerBoost engine. hybrid (375 to 450 hp all the same), intended to provide more torque and power for less consumption. It is available for all trim levels from LX to Limited. We can thus count on a range of about 1,000 km with a full tank.
The SelectShift Ford 10-speed automatic transmission is perfectly suited to meet the requirements of the 47hp electric motor and there are thus several driving modes, including the towing mode essential for our cousins from across the Atlantic. This hybridization uses the energy of regenerative braking to recharge the 1.5 kwh lithium-ion battery.
New option available? the Pro Power Onboard, which via an integrated generator supplies the whole panoply of sockets in the bucket that requires the use of power tools. We can thus have a power of up to 2.7 kw. The tailgate is super solid, it of course turns into a real workbench.
The interior of the 2021 Ford F-150 has also been redesigned. Everything is especially visible thanks to the presence of a new 8-inch touch screen that is found at the heart of the Sync 4 infotainment system.
