Fun with children in Mallorca

Walk to the Hermitage of Bonany in Petra

The Puig de Bonany is located on the outskirts of the town of Petra, and is a good excursion for those who want to take a walk to a small in the Pla de Mallorca (Mallorca inland area). When going with small children, our recommendation is to start the walk at the foot of the mountain, where you can park the car without problems. From there, we can follow the path to the top of the hill. You can also take the shortcuts that are on the way, although some are not very suitable to go with the baby carriage, in case you have small children.

Very close to the hermitage we will find a stone cross in honor of the last sermon delivered by Fray Juníper Sierra before leaving for America. In the outdoor area, you will find an area with tables to have a picnic or just to chill out. From its viewpoint, we can enjoy wonderful views of the bay of Alcudia and the Pla de Mallorca area. Dont miss to visit the chappel as it is beautiful.

Excursions with small children in Mallorca: pony ride

A pony ride with a visit to the animals farm

We all know how much the small children like animals. On this excursion you will be able to enjoy a great day out with animals, outdoors and with a lot of interaction with many animals.

First of all, you are going to take a walk through the animal farm and see the cow Cuba, the donkey Beasa, the horse Soñado, the goats, the ducks, the turtles and many more animals. There is even a play area where the children will be able to touch some of them.

Second, you will be able to take a 15-minute pony ride with a monitor that supervises to make sure the children have a great time. The price of the activity for young children, from 1 year and a half is € 10. If you only want to enter the farm, the price is € 5 for adults and € 3 for children.

Excursions along the promenades of Mallorca

It is an ideal proposal for families with small children, since all the promenades are perfectly equipped to go with the baby carriage. And not only that, but around, there is a good proposal of beaches, bars, and terraces where to make a stop. In summer it can be perfectly combined with a day at the beach.

Among some of our favorite promenades we have Puerto Alcudia, Colonia de Sant Jordi or Cala Ratjada. Here is a list of some other promenades where to go with small children:

  • Promenade of Port de Sóller
  • Porto Cristo promenade
  • Cala Ratjada seafront
  • El molinar and Es Carnatje promenade
  • Palma Nova seafront
  • Promenade of Cala Bona and Cala Millor
  • Sant Telmo promenade.
Excursions in Mallorca with small children: Palma Aquarium

Palma Aquarium Theme Park

In Mallorca there is an important offer on tourist attractions, and some of them can be a good excursion to do as a family, and with the possibility of taking your baby carriage with you.

The first option is to visit Palma Aquarium, which, being an indoor space, can be an ideal excursion on a rainy day. Throughout Palma Aquarium there is a route through its different areas.

Another interesting option is the Marineland theme park with its spectacular show of dolphins and sea lions. There is much more to do there, with its aviarium, its aquarium, the penguins … and it even has a children’s area with a pool where parents can play with children.

Cala Murta

We now propose you to go hiking and combine it with a beautiful cove with your children, and on a route suitable for carrying the baby stroller.

It is a short excursion since we will hardly need about 30 minutes of walking. The road to Cala Murta is paved, so the terrain is suitable for going with children. It is important to bear in mind that when we arrive at Cala Murta we will find a beach without services or bathrooms. The beach is pebbled, so it is impractical with the stroller, but on the left side there is a small esplanade perfect to stay there. Dont forget to bring snorkel equipment as it is a great place where to explore the marine life.

La Gola – Nature Reserve Area

La Gola is a small wetland in Puerto Pollensa, with a large number of resident birds as well as some passing through. In fact, it is quite surprising to find this place in the tourist center of Puerto Pollensa, and that also has an information center with information, brochures, maps …

There is a small route where you can go perfectly withchildren. You will be able to see birds of all kinds: gazettes, ducks, wagtails, herons and even the odd Eleonor falcon. The path is easy to follow, and takes you close to the wetland area and the forest area, passing bridges and viewpoints. You can combine it with a visit to the port of Pollensa and even a day at the beach by taking the ferry to Formentor beach .

Via Verde Manacor-Arta

The via verde from Manacor to Arta follows the old railway line that linked these two towns in Mallorca between 1921 and 1977. It is a total of 28 kilometers with an ideal path to travel on foot or by bicycle. Along the path there are different rest areas with benches and tables, garden areas and different entrances.

The route or excursion that we recommend to do with children is the section between Son Servera and Arta, since you can see the sea and it becomes much more pleasant. In addition, an environmental interpretation center has been installed in the old Son Servera train station that children will surely love.
