In times when stress does not give you peace, it is important to know some methods of relaxation, which you can implement right at home. This way, you will get rid of negative thoughts and feelings and, at the same time, you will feel calmer. So we come to your aid and present you with five relaxation methods that you can try at any time!

Prepare a warm bath

Often, a hot bath can be one of the best and fastest ways to relax, especially after a tiring day. Hot water has a calming effect and will quickly help relax all muscles. But, if you want to really enjoy the relaxing effect of a hot bath, it is important to put aside the thoughts that press you and try to find peace for a few moments.

If you feel your back tense after hours in the office chair, a hot bath can be a great way to relax your lower back and cervical area. In addition, hot baths reduce blood pressure and stimulate the circulatory system. Also, if you use different bath salts or essential oils and listen to soothing music, you will really enjoy a comfortable experience.

Practice short meditation

After a hectic and noisy day, you definitely need a few moments of peace, so you can try to practice, at home, short-term meditation. All you have to do is find a quiet and welcoming place, suitable to clear your mind. Sit in a comfortable position, close your eyes and focus on your breathing: inhale deeply for 3 seconds, hold the air in your chest for 5 seconds, then exhale slowly, gradually, until you remove the air from your lungs. Repeat this 3-4 times, until you feel that your heartbeat has calmed down. Meditation can be short, about 5-10 minutes, but it can have long-lasting effects.

Listen to relaxing music

If you want to get rid of stress, you can listen to relaxing music while resting on the couch. Search for playlists with relaxing music on Youtube, using various phrases such as “anti-stress music”, “relaxing music”, “meditation music” or “peace of mind music”. You can also opt for pieces from Peruvian Native American culture, which include flute and panpipe sounds, but also sounds from nature.

Another solution may be to use special applications with relaxing sounds – the sound of rain, waves, or the song of crickets – which you can listen to at any time, even when you suffer from insomnia.

Enjoy the benefits of aromatherapy

Anxiety or insomnia can be alleviated through aromatherapy, so you can try this form of therapy even when you want to relax. Aromatherapy is based on the use of essential oils, extracted from plants. These oils can be inhaled, so we recommend, in this regard, the use of a diffuser that helps to vaporize the aromas in the room air. You can also use essential oils to massage certain areas of the body. However, before applying them directly to the skin, we recommend that you dilute them with a larger amount of simple massage oil, so as not to cause irritation.

You will see that aromatherapy can be a good help in times of stress and anxiety and that it can help you relax and sleep better.

Think positive

Another relaxation technique that you can practice at home can be positive thinking. This does not refer to desires, but to the moments that give you pleasure and help you relax. For example, if you feel stressed, you can close your eyes and imagine a seascape or sunrise, or anything else that helps you relax. If you want to feel like you are on a vacation, you can watch on TV a series of suggestive images, which will take you thinking about a certain destination. For example, the new models of smart TVs from Carrefour are equipped with the YouTube function, which you can use to watch, in HD quality, videos with different landscapes or relaxing videos.

If you feel the need to relax at home, you can try any of the methods proposed in this article. However, you can always use other types of therapies, such as yoga, reiki, or the Jacobson method, which consists in the progressive relaxation of the muscles. They will help you reduce anxiety, eliminate migraines, have a deep and restful sleep, and reduce stress.
