Audio is the most crucial component of a special event. Imagine you have brought friends and your loved ones together, and then your sound system fails. This can be disheartening and frustrating. With the right equipment and expertise, many things can go right. The good news is that you can address this dilemma by going for the right audio system. While looking for one, you will encounter two notable choices: compact line array speakers or conventional two-way public address (PA) speakers. Which is the best choice? You ask. Reading the succeeding paragraphs before deciding on the details here can help quickly.

Compact Line Array Speakers

Originally called the personal amplification system, it revolutionized the professional audio sector. They are powerful, space-saving, and portable. These are achieved with the use of a series of small speakers that are arranged in linear order. This strategy maximizes sound quality even if the speakers are set in alternating directions. Such an arrangement delivers an astonishing 180 degrees of horizontal coverage.

Also, the sound characteristics of compact array speakers are unique. In such a way, high and mid frequencies are delivered through the line array. The results are high-quality sounds that are smooth, crisp, and unlike any other. On top of these, the internal speaker wirings of compact array speakers are organized, neat, and easy to set up.

Conventional two-way PA speakers

Conventional two-way PA speakers have a single prominent speaker ideal for low and mid-range frequencies. They are accompanied by a single horn speaker attached to a high-frequency compression driver. This particular setup makes them suitable for high-frequency sounds.

Additionally, present-day models come with powered speaker enclosures with crossover points ranging from 1.5 to 3.5 kHz. If they are utilized with a subwoofer in a 3-way arrangement, the crossover subwoofer is set between 80 Hz and 120 Hz.

A closer look at the crossover points suggests that the mid-range sound will be lacking since the prominent speaker will be responsible for frequencies that are 1.5 kHz or higher. This is because high-compression drivers are not designed for mid-range frequencies. With these factors in mind, PA conventional PA speakers are not ideal for small venues but for larger ones where higher volume is necessary.

Summing up

The right sound system all depends on your needs, preferences, and budget. However, compact array speakers are the way to achieve a high-quality sound that exceeds expectations.

Also, it is best to purchase from a company backed by a long history of innovation, technical improvements, and everything in between. This way, you can rest assured of getting your money’s worth and more.
