 Jack

Cross wrench

Torque wrench

This is an extremely important instrument required in changing tyres. This helps in tightening the nut bolts accurately. This ultimately helps in getting the grip of the wheel right.

Wire brush

A pencil with grease

When you store your tyres, it’s important to mark them correctly, so that you fit them to the right position. Mark them as left or right according to the positions. Don’t forget to mention front or rear as well.

Gloves

Steps for tyre changing

  •  First, put the car into first gear and pull up the handbrake.
  • Use the cross wrench and loosen all the nuts and bolts in the wheel.
  • Now comes the use of a jack. Position it in such a manner so that your tyre is above the ground at a safe distance to change it. Check your vehicle manual for the position of the jack.
  • Remove all the bolts using a cross wrench. Once the wheel comes off the hub, use the grease pencil to make a mark.
  • Next, use the wire brush to remove the wrench. Now is the time to put on the wheel.
  • You need to fit the wheel bolts again. You can again tighten them using a cross wrench. However, they can be tightened only lightly.
  •  Get your car close to the ground so that the tyre touches the surface.
  •  With the help of a torque wrench, tighten the bolts. Just ensure that you do this in a crisscross pattern.
  •  Finally remove the jack and repeat the same process for the other tyres of the vehicle.

Once you get the knack of it, you’ll realize that tyre changing is not that strenuous at all. Follow the instructions decorously and you won’t face any issues in this.
