The Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM) credential is an excellent method for people with minimal professional project management experience to stand out in a crowded employment market. It can also serve as a stepping stone toward the more renowned Project Management Professional (PMP) credential. However, you must first pass a difficult test covering the foundations of project management in order to acquire CAPM certification. It will require a lot of studying, but a decent CAPM test prep book can help you get up to speed quickly.
Some CAPM test prep books stand out from the crowd.
They offer you a thorough understanding of the exam and allow you to put your knowledge to the test with real-world practice problems and exams. But, with so many prep books available, how can you choose the right one for your needs?
So before Dig into the Best CAPM Exam Books let’s start to know what is CAPM Exam is:
Basically, the Project Management Institute offers the Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM) certificate (PMI).
The CAPM is an entry-level project management credential. The CAPM is meant to show applicants’ mastery of the core concepts, vocabulary, and procedures of successful project management. It is designed for people with little project experience.
How CAPM Test is Scored:
The CAPM test has 150 questions, however, only 135 of them are scored. The remaining 15 are pretest questions that may be included as graded items on future editions of the exam. Because there’s no way of knowing which questions are the pretest questions, you should treat them all equally.
The CAPM exam is a pass/fail exam, however, PMI doesn’t say how many questions you need to get right to pass. This is due to the fact that the number fluctuates somewhat from one exam version to the next. Subject area experts grade each question and give a difficulty level. When you successfully answer a difficult question, you earn more points than when you correctly answer an easy question.
So, while you might pass with just 100 questions answered on one edition of the test, you could need to answer 105 questions properly on the following version of the exam is a bit easier.
It might be difficult to determine what score to strive for when studying for the CAPM test because of this. The aim is to constantly perform your best, but most experts believe that 70 percent is a reasonable starting point.
Best Book to Prepare CAPM Exam:
The trick is to limit yourself to two or three of the best-rated books so that you can prepare thoroughly! So, in my opinion, I’d recommend The most recent edition of the PMBOK (Since most questions would be from this guide).
Also the CAPM Prep Book by the PMP Teacher. I enjoyed the PMP Teacher book because of the attention to detail and graphic markers against some of the topics she repeats, which helps the reader remember them. I cannot emphasize enough how important it is to obtain a copy of this book! It was really helpful, and I was able to draw several similarities with the PMBOK on some of the issues I couldn’t grasp.
