Arla wants to sell carbonated milk

Milk producer Arla has recently announced that it will start producing bubbly milk drinks. Now they want to challenge the big soft drink manufacturers and hope to launch the new milk varieties by 2020.

According to Arla’s latest press release published in Dagens Teknik, the milk giant is ready to take a new controversial step in its product placement. This time, they challenge the traditional soft drink manufacturers by launching carbonated milk drinks together with the subsidiary Cocio. The products are expected to reach grocery stores before 2020.

Wants to double sales of dairy products

The carbonated products are still in a production stage, but according to Arla, they will consist of carbonated milk mixed with fruit drinks, alternatively energy drinks, and tea. The range will also include products made from yogurt and whey.

By approaching the beverage market more strategically, we can double sales of liquid dairy products and take advantage of great growth opportunities for Arla. With milk-based branded drinks, we can create more value for our owner farmers, says Hanne S√łndergaard, Executive Vice President for Marketing & Innovation at Arla in the press release.

Market reports indicate that the dairy industry has grown strongly, especially outside Europe. However, Arla wants to invest in becoming the leading milk supplier of milk drinks in Scandinavia. Production of the carbonated dairy products will begin in just over two months.
